Save Our Salters - Red Brook needs Your Support

Red Brook in southeastern Massachusetts got a big vote of support today as Wareham residents voted overwhelmingly, 813 to 141, against the proposed re-zoning that would have threatened the aquifer that feeds Red Brook.  Many thanks to the Wareham residents who turned out to vote and to the many individuals in TU and other organizations who worked to protect the environment and get out the vote.

Red Brook is truly a special place that TU and other organizations have worked on over 3 decades and spent $4M to restore. The population of self-sustaining sea run “salter” brook trout improves with every passing season.

Today’s vote means that the immediate threat of a large development nearby to Red Brook has been stalled, but not eliminated.  We will continue to work to provide a more permanent protection of this precious “Salter” habitat.
