Chapter Meeting

Monday, November 19th, 2018 - 6:30pm to Monday, November 19th, 2018 - 8:30pm

Come and join us at GBTU’s November meeting which will be held at T-accessible (plenty of parking, too!) Union Street in Newton Center on the second floor.

Chapter events for the evening include the Chapter’s Annual Meeting with the election of officers and board members; awards to individuals who have made a difference in cold water resource preservation, and recognition of past chapter leaders.

Additionally, our panel discussion, New Waters, New Voices, will be moderated by Gabby Queenan, current board member and will include presenters Andrew and Daniel Lee, two enthusiastic high schoolers eager to tell of their fishing odysseys; Tommy Cody, a longtime TUer, who will relate his history with TU; and Cynthia Harkness, who will relate how she became involved in the business of fly fishing.

Awards will be given to the following individuals:

Adam Kautza, cold water biologist for Mass Fish and Game, will receive GBTU’s Conservation Advocate Award. Adam has been extremely active in research and outreach to the angler and conservation community.

Thomas Largy of Wayland, a former GBTU president, has been a tireless advocate for clean, cold water and will receive the chapter’s Lifetime Achievement Award for his years of River Stewardship on the Sudbury, Concord and Assabet Rivers.

There is plenty of on-street parking and several parking lots within two blocks of the venue on Cypress, Beacon, and Pelham Street. Click on the link for parking options in Newton Centre. Union Street can also be easily reached using the T. Take D train on the Green Line to Newton Center, Union Street is a short walk from the station.
